Almaz is absolutely the best Ethiopian food I've ever had, and one of my favorite spots to eat in Lancaster in general. I've brought friends visiting from all over and they unanimously agree! We always get the veggie combo and it is fresh, delicious, and filling. We are extremely lucky to have this gem in our backyard!

Super duper! Excellent service. Delicious Yebeg wat (lamb) which was spicy and flavorful. The green lentils and yellow peas were a great compliment. The lentil sambusa was also great. What is the green dipping side (with what tasted like lime) that is served with it? Great combination of flavors!!

When you walk in, it feels like you've walked into the dining room of someone's house. It's plain yet quaint with several tables scattered around to eat at. Nothing fancy about it, but somehow it's just right.
The kitchen is in the back and the food comes out really fresh! I didn't know what to order when I went with my friend since I'm not very familiar with Ethiopian food, so we asked the girl that was serving and she gave us a recommendation. We ended up ordering a large plate to share and it was definitely the right decision. It seemed very authentic and was cooked wonderfully.
The staff is incredibly friendly and personable. It's one family that runs the business and when we got up to pay we ended up talking to the girl and her mom who came out of the kitchen from cooking. Business seemed slow for them since we were the only customers in there until right before we left. I really hope they continue to have success though because they need to stick around! They are excellent.
I would definitely recommend if you're looking to try a new cuisine or are looking for something different in Lancaster. -

Excellent food and service! We had the lentil sambusa, hummus, mango smoothie, and vegetable combo platter. Everything was delicious. Best hummus I have ever had in my life. The thought of eating store bought hummus makes me sad now. Highly recommend.

I was a bit hesitant to try this place due to the location and the fact that I am not familiar with Ethiopian food, but I sure am glad I did! It was clean, service was great, and they have vegan and vegetarian options. I ordered a few appetizers for my meal. I got the berbere fries, which were very good. They are seasoned with some type of powder. I also ordered the hummus and chips. The hummus was spicy and very flavorful. But my favorite was the lentil Sambusa. It was so crispy on the outside with warm tasty lentils on the inside. The cilantro sauce was so good! My dad and brother ordered the vegetarian combo platter and they really enjoyed it. Our server explained everything that was on the plate which was very helpful. The one downside was that there wasn't any silverware. I will definitely be coming back!
